April, 18.

Some additions for my tool collection

I have to admit, I am a tool addict. Usually I buy German quality tools and also some Snap On, Craftsman (not so much any more) and some other quality brands. Just lately, while browsing through one of my favorite forums I stumbled across a company from Korea which provides great tools for great prices. Even better, there is a German distributor for this brand. The company is called Toptul. The prices are ridiculous cheap and the quality is stunning:
I like the double ring wrenches with the 45° offset. And you can't have enough extensions! The neat little 1/4 inch ratchet has 60 teeth! The only thing I don't like is the fact that they offer different surfaces (mirror polished; satin chrome) and you cannot chose which one will be delivered...

A long overdue update...

Currently it is too cold in the garage, but I wanted to show some things I did recently to brighten up the tattered interior.
First I tidied up the trunk and carpet, then I added a luggage net to prevent the "junk in the trunk" from moving all over the place:

I also added a nice set of floor mats. On the left you might see a very bright light. I replaced the old 12V filament bulbs of the interior and dome lights with LED ones. This is a huge improvement in lumination!

Can't wait to get this thing back on the roads!

Note to myself: Don't forget to replace the hatch seal!

It is all in the details...

Today I installed the ashtray. The stamped steel bowl is freshly media blasted and cad plated.
To me, this is important - even though I don't even smoke, but the looks of this thing make me happy:

Multi spoke Rials back from media blasting!

Today I received a Whatsapp image from my fellow friend Jens, the "Master Blaster" Kraft, who finally managed to remove the plastic-like paint from the Rial rims. The next step is polishing and some color...
 Excellent job, as always!

New headliner

When I bought my car, the original headliner was cracked and missing in some places. Luckily, a brand new original headliner came with the car. Yesterday I took my time and after ~7 hours the new headliner was in. I am well chuffed with the result. No wrinkles or waves!

First step was to roughly layout the headliner and affix it with clamps.

Then I started gluing from the front towards the back, then the Targa cut out.

I am well chuffed with the result. No wrinkles or waves!

At the same time I exchanged the rear interior cards, some "pro" installed a set of Blaupunkt speakers (some + 20 years ago) and butchered those rear interior cards. As they also took their toll due to leaking Targa seals (deformed and moldy), they had to go:

The car also came with a nice set of used spares. Now the interior only needs a good clean, then I am ready for the MOT-like TÜV inspection to get it back on the road. This is a challenging task, as even minor mods need be approved by an engineer. Things like wild engine swaps or using wheels of a different make and model - almost impossible here in Germany...
